This is the second entry of our time in the beautiful, naturist-friendly beach town of Zipolite, Mexico

Before we made our move to Casa Nudista for our 6-night stay, we had the opportunity to attend the Saturday evening nude pool party we’d heard so much about. Here are our thoughts.

Casa Nudista – Zipolite

To preface, we had a lot of stories that had been told to us, by several individuals, on a spectrum from chill pool party to full blown orgies….  Our experience was the former.  We can say that it was refreshing to be in a nude-friendly (mandatory) location with a sex-positive vibe. We witnessed nothing in the open that would be considered inappropriate here or at any other naturist-type setting.

Outside the sleeping hut.

We weren’t thinking about it at the time, but afterward, we thought most naturists/nudists would be comfortable attending this mostly male, nude pool party at Casa Nudista. OK, enough about that. Let’s talk about what we experienced, not what we didn’t…

We arrived about an hour after the pool party had begun. The price for entry as a “day visitor” was 150 pesos each (about US$7.50), which included a clothes check (if needed) and two complimentary refreshments. Such a bargain! We wore sarongs to the party and used them to sit on, so we had nothing to check…

The weather was gorgeous, and there were about 50-75 people, mostly men, with two women in attendance. These numbers swelled and shrunk over the next few hours. Overall, the vibe was really nice, and most everyone was in good spirits and was pleasant to interact with. There was a good mix of men in attendance. Some locals, but mostly visitors to the area. We met many guys from Mexico City and all over the U.S.. Ages ranged from early 20s to 70s, most probably in the 30-55 range.

Immediately upon our arrival, we were approached and greeted by several followers of our naturist & travel vlogs, FullFrontal.Life & BIRDIEandBAMBAM… Then, several more. For a while, it seemed every time we turned around, there was someone new standing in front of us, wanting to meet and chat for a bit. It’s usually a great experience meeting our followers. We’re normally very introverted, so attending an event or gathering where we have a lot of followers is pretty rare for us. It was a special treat when we learned some of the guys we met not only follow, but actually support our content as well.

Outdoor Shower

To address Casa Nudista’s one oddity, the pool is only suitable for a maximum of a dozen or so people; it’s really undersized for the facility, let alone pool parties. We noticed the water did seem to stay clean, so they must have an excellent filtration system. It also helped that there are no swimsuits murking up the waters with detergents and dyes…

After a dozen or so people entered the pool, it really became a big human soup situation. We settled onto some benches with a good view of those wanting a cramped pool experience. The bar was open, drinks were flowing, and the music was chill with a good beat. There was some great people-watching for sure!

Beautiful Beaches @ Zipolite

As sunset approached, many people, about half, left for Playa del Amor.  Thankfully, that was most of the people in the too-tiny pool, and we were finally able to chat, dip our feet, and relax with the remainder of the folks who skipped the beach.

During the party, we had the pleasure of meeting some really great guys, chatting with new friends and discussing travel & naturism whilst nude.  Overall, the party was well-behaved and chill.  When we return to Zipolite, we will revisit the pool parties of Casa Nudista in lieu of staying to get our mandatory naked fix and then jet off to our choice of quiet accommodations.

Always a dog with us in Zipolite

MOVING INTO CASA NUDISTA

After a nice three-night stay at the clothing-optional Hotel Budamar, we moved over to Casa Nudista for six nights! We were just there yesterday for the Saturday pool party, and now we get the full experience.

This is the stay we were most looking forward to. Casa Nudista is not clothing-optional. Instead, wearing clothing is not permitted while staying or visiting the property. Yes, you get to wear clothes in and when you leave, but while on the premises, one must be totally nude. Much of the staff work in the nude when practical. They walk the walk, so to speak. They were all friendly and between their mostly excellent English and our broken Spanish, we had no trouble communicating during our stay.

Another view from inside the hut.
Much needed mosquito net.

Because our reservation was pieced together at the last minute, we had three different rooms booked. We started our stay in their “glamping huts,” which were definitely an experience. There are only two huts and an outdoor shower to share between them, as well as one toilet. The beds were comfy, but there was no insulation, so every noise from your neighbor could be heard…

Two sleeping huts.

Thankfully, our neighbor in the huts was a fab Dutchman named Leo, and he was an agreeable neighbor indeed.  There wasn’t a lot of room inside the hut, and Rain proceeded to hit his big noggin on the wood beams no fewer than four times in the two nights we stayed there. A sleeping helmet may be in his future… The huts have air-conditioning and much-needed mosquito nets are provided over the bed.

We moved into a real room!
Shared patio with our neighbors.
Adequate bathroom We mostly showered outside.

The next stay was in an upper-level “deluxe” room with a private shower, toilet, and a little kitchenette; this room was more our speed.  We had a wonderful stay in this unit. Our neighbors were delightful gents from Seattle, Ryan and Alejandro, with whom we became friendly and shared many conversations and several nights out!  It was a pleasure meeting these guys.

Nice having a small kitchen.

Our final move was into a “superior” room, where we had more space, it was ground level and had a lovely covered patio to escape the heat of the day. However, when we moved into this room, Rain started showing signs of an illness coming on. He picked up what we now believe to be Dengue Fever. This was pretty much the end of Rain’s festivities as he was bedbound and felt terrible the last couple of days of the trip (and beyond). So, with that going on, we didn’t actually capture any images of our last room as Rain was trying his best to recover enough to travel a full day back to Playa del Carmen.

Bar Chizme
Bar Chizme is not always nude, but they allowed us to be naked anytime we wanted!

Before Rain started feeling terrible, we both managed to stop by Nude Night at Bar Chizme. A bunch of guys staying at Casa Nudista were there, as were many others. It was a lot of fun for sure. The owner is a great guy named Vincent, and he is a real hoot. He kept threatening to kick people out if they weren’t naked, which we fully endorsed 🙂

Overall, our stay Casa Nudista was a great experience. It’s beautifully designed, very chic and the staff is awesome. It was a pleasure staying there.

We are more on the introverted side of humanness, and we would do Zipolite differently next time regarding our accommodations.  We’d likely choose to not be so much in the thick of it but dip in and out as we desire

Playa del Amor

During our time in Zipolite, we made it to a hidden cove, which is located at the south end of Playa Zipolite and is called Playa del Amor.  A well-maintained staircase accesses it and this cove is THE SPOT to chill out for sunsets.  We made it here twice to enjoy the sunset with numerous other beachgoers.  There are two beach bars where one can get refreshments and chairs.  Once the sun goes into the sea, there are all manner of activities; I’ll let you Google the details; the nature of these activities is of an adult and very sex-positive variety, available for those who want it.

You Can walk Nude the entire way to Playa del Amor
It’s wonderful being in a place so free and accepting.

One thing you will notice when you go to Zipolite is the dogs.  There are docile pups all over, some street pups, and some domestic with collars and owners.  All are friendly and are just there living one of the best pup lives we’ve ever witnessed.  Being dog lovers, it was a treat; they just dot the streets, the beach and they don’t harass. They’re just there, being pups, enhancing the charming experience of this village.

Xhuba Cafe – Nudity is permitted at this beachside cafe.
Dogs everywhere and it was fantastic!

One notable experience was that 99% of the beach bars and restaurants were nude-friendly. One could get some naked sun time in the morning, get a bite to eat, and then get back to the beach for more fun, all while remaining in our natural state!  However, while walking around town, away from the beach, it’s polite for the inhabitants to cover up their bits while walking around town or enjoying one of the off-beach restaurants.

Black Flag = Death Water

The waters that grace the beach of Zipolite are usually unsuitable for swimming; it’s rather dangerous due to the ocean currents.  One morning, when the waves were rather big, and the break was frequent, several gentlemen ran out to us as we walked along the beach and warned us not to get into the water.  Usually, there are red flags that dot the beach, indicating the severe currents that pose a danger, but on this day, they had been changed to black, indicating that the water was far too dangerous to get in, even where you might think it was safe.  Even at calf high water, you could feel the power of these currents and easily lose your balance and be swept off to Antarctica.  Perhaps that’s an exaggeration, but it’s always good to listen to locals regarding warnings about the sea.

Our overall takeaway from spending 10 days & 9 nights in Zipolite is that this is a magical place filled with beautiful inhabitants who are kind and welcoming.  There is an overwhelming acceptance of diversity, and LGBTQ+ individuals are very welcome here.  Due to Zipolite’s remote placement on our planet, it’s wise to understand that the amenities of this village are limited but that there will be everything you need, even as plant-based eaters like us!

We will be back, and we hope those who choose to go and visit Zipolite, respect the environment that the village inhabitants have created.

We want to thank all the people we interacted with: Martin and Bill, Ryan and Alejandro, Leo, Dio, Oscar, Mike and Rich, Denny and Marc, Ernie and Jim, Brandon from Chitown, Brandon from Tampa, and Jordan from Utah, Vincent at Chizme Bar, Harold and Frank, Charles, Dennis from Tours, France, and many others…, and of course the entire staff at Casa Nudista
