Our need to exit the Schengen Area before our visa expired saw us traveling to Bucharest, Romania. Never did we think we’d end up in Romania but here we are.
I can tell you we were pleasantly surprised by this country and the city of Bucharest. The more time we spend in the country, the more we want to go back and spend even more…
A taxi driver tried to scam us at the airport before we ended up calling an Uber to our Airbnb rental.
We arrive at our apartment building and it’s right out of Eastern Bloc Europe. The entrance seems a bit sketchy, but we find our way in and navigate the cold, dark hallways that seem right out of a horror movie. We find our apartment and are pleasantly surprised by how great it is.
During our first week in Bucharest, Rain had some overdue dental work performed including a wisdom tooth extraction. The care received seemed top-notch and at a fraction of the cost of what this would have cost back in the USA. We go over a cost breakdown of the care received.
We take in some sights including a great nighttime water fountain show at Unirii Square and we visit The Place of Parliament, which is housed in what is thought to be the heaviest building in the world and one of the largest too. While trying to enter, we had a small run-in with the Romanian Police who weren’t too happy with what we were doing.
We pack up our suitcases and head across town to a new Airbnb where we stay for a month. It ended up being much longer…
